Each year, millions of Americans establish personal or professional resolutions, only to have them quickly fall by the wayside. In fact, around 80% of resolutions are tossed out the window by the end of February.
If you aren’t satisfied with your progress on your goals, don’t throw them out just yet! It’s a great time to give them a good spring-cleaning.
With spring just a few weeks away, take the opportunity to give your resolutions a reboot.
Think Through Your Resolutions
First things first, if you haven’t already done so, now’s the time to write down your resolutions. Whether you’re creating goals for your franchise, your professional life in general, or your personal life, writing them down makes them feel more real, so get out a notepad or your laptop.
Now, consider what’s keeping you from finding success. Do you not have what you need to reach your goals? Are your goals unrealistic? Have your needs shifted since you set the goals?
Hit the Reset Button
Once you’ve outlined your resolutions, it’s time to tweak them. It’s been a couple of months and you aren’t finding success, but instead of letting go of your goals, give them a reboot.
This may include adapting those goals to the tools you have at your disposal, setting goals that are more realistic or adjusting your goals to meet changing needs.
Plan Out Your Success
The main reason why most resolutions fail is that we set the goals but don’t determine how to reach them. To find success, you need to plan out how to achieve success.
Make sure you have the resources you need lined up. Set small goals within your larger goals that will help you achieve success. If you’re able, set a due date for each goal to give you a firm timeline.
Don’t forget to celebrate yourself, too! When you hit one of the goals within your larger plan, celebrate it. You’ll be more motivated to keep going.
