Franchisors are looking for franchise owners, and veterans are looking for a business opportunity – now is the time for you to connect with each other.
If you’re a franchisor you may be wondering why you should focus on veterans and why you should do this now.
Each day, servicemen and servicewomen re-enter the civilian work world after serving in the military. Important decisions need to be made and your brand may be their answer.
I routinely hear from veterans who are “retiring.” They are still young, and they want to know what they should do next – maybe open a business. They are considering options:
- Open their own business?
- Or, join a growing franchise brand?
They want to become a part of their community, as a leader continuing to make a difference in the lives of others.
What I share with them is the same thing I share with readers today. Owning your own business can give you the latitude to make decisions and control the next five to ten years working to achieve your personal and financial goals. Franchising can reduce the risk of a business startup because franchise systems support independent owners with branding, marketing, website design, and hosting. Also, following their model typically reduces the time to open, while offering support not available if you go out “on your own.”
As an aspiring business owner and a veteran, you likely have spent years of following someone else’s lead, but also being a leader in your own right. It may be time to become your own boss and leverage your skills in commerce and industry, while having someone to lean on in case you need help.
Now is a great time to connect with a franchisor. Learn about their brand and what the business does. Talk to the leadership team, get to know each other and learn more.
Be confident that the franchise industry welcomes veterans in all kinds of businesses. I encourage vet-entrepreneurs to do what you enjoy most; choose from fitness, medical, personal care, trades, repair services or food (think fast-casual in this post-pandemic environment.) It’s your choice!
Franchising is a great place to start. Franchise brands are growing, and you should take the next step in your future of business ownership.
