Some people spend hours per day watching videos on YouTube or TikTok. Some people check Facebook or Instagram every two minutes. I am a LinkedIn junkie. I have the desktop version or the app or both open all day at my desk. Many in our franchise community do the same. (I see you on here!)
If your goal is to be a business thought leader (local or national) or to build your personal brand, LinkedIn will take you further than any other social channel. Franchise brands and franchisees have an additional challenge of multiple subjects when it comes to content that could be shared. Should you focus on content about your specific sector, or should you post about franchising? Should you post about events in your local region or about business ownership in general? Whatever your chosen direction, garnering more views of those posts is critical.
I’ve been fortunate to have grown my views on LinkedIn substantially in the past year. Some daily posts are now getting 5,000+ views. Here are some personal observations as well as tips given to me from friends who are equally invested in LinkedIn for their businesses to grow your views.
Post from your personal LinkedIn profile, not from your company page. You likely already have more connections than your brand or small business has followers. Remember, people want to do business with people, not companies.
Post every day. This sounds harder than it is! You don’t have to write a full article from scratch. Give your opinions or perspective, on a business-related story. Being a thought leader means sharing your perspectives not just curating links without commentary.
Do not put links in the body of your post. LinkedIn wants you to stay on LinkedIn and will throttle down links driving traffic elsewhere. If you’re sharing an article or podcast, make your commentary, and then put the link to that content in a comment.
Next month, we’ll share more tips on what to do – and what not to do – to increase your views and engagement on LinkedIn!
