In honor of Mother’s Day, we wanted to pay tribute to working mothers and learn how their career as a FranServe Affiliate Franchise Consultant has enabled them to support their families and have a healthy work-life balance that many mothers long for.
Laura Blackmore, franchise development executive and owner of Blackmore Franchising, boils it down to three words: flexibility, lifestyle and opportunity. “Working as a consultant allows me to work remotely and set my own schedule,” Blackmore said. “This flexibility means that I can spend more time with my children, attend school functions and be present for important family events. It has allowed me to maintain a healthy work-life balance, which is crucial for any working mom. It has supported me with the skills and flexibility to be a successful and present mom. I’m so glad I chose this career nine years ago. I wouldn’t be able to have this sort of time to take quick calls or texts from my kids in the middle of the day, run to school or leave early for games. The success has afforded me opportunities I don’t think I would have achieved in a different career. I can plan my day to ensure that I have enough time for work, kids, dogs and myself, making me more productive in all areas.”
Julie Goldberg, CFC and owner of Evergreen Franchise Advisors, got a wake-up call years ago when her youngest daughter gave a speech in class professing that she wanted to do what her mom does: sit at home and do nothing all day! “Imagine my shock and dismay,” shared Goldberg. “I was the craziest stay-at-home mom ever. I didn’t know the word ‘no,’ and attended every field trip, sat on boards of directors, and coached soccer and basketball (even though I knew nothing about basketball). I was a Girl Scout troop leader, room mom, ran the youth group at our synagogue, etc.”
That experience led Goldberg to look for “something to do,” and she found FranServe. “It’s been 10 years, and I love what I do. I love helping people, making the magic happen and watching people achieve their dream of business ownership. I cannot thank my daughter enough for giving me the push I needed. Sometimes, inspiration comes from the strangest places.” Goldberg said franchise consulting has made her a better mom by significantly improving her multitasking skills and has transformed her into a fantastic role model to her girls as a strong, independent woman.
And finally, our newest mom, Susan Pettit, co-founder of Franchise Planners, said: “My husband, Jason, has been a FranServe Consultant for eight years, and I recently took a more active role in our company. After leaving my full-time director of marketing position earlier this year to focus on franchise consulting, I’m now able to spend more time with our daughter, Brooklyn, who was born in January 2023. It means the world to me to be able to work from home and see her throughout the day. I am so lucky and thankful to be a part of the FranServe team.”
