It was New Year’s Eve 2016 when Jack and Jill Johnson decided to quit their jobs and venture into the world of franchise consulting.
“We were both making nice six-figure salaries and, on the surface, appeared comfortable, but the truth was we hated the demand of our jobs and really weren’t comfortable at all,” said Jack, detailing his former corporate background, which was thick with travel and time away from home. “In my role, I had worked with franchise consultants and often wondered ‘Why am I not doing that?’ So on New Year’s Eve, Jill and I literally said ‘To hell with it, we’re making this change.’”
They couple sold their home in order to fund their endeavor and launched The Franchise Insiders business in May 2017. However, during the first five months, they didn’t make any commission or placements.
“The interesting part is I don’t remember being scared or nervous,” Jack said. “Somehow, I knew it would work.”
His intuition turned out to be right. During the last two months of 2017, the couple grossed $200,000. In 2023, the extraordinary consulting duo, now successful FranServe Affiliate Franchise Consultants, entered the $2 million club within just 12 months after joining the FranServe team.
“I think a big part of our success was goal setting,” Jack said. “I think in this business you always have to want to level up, continue to push yourself and really envision what you want to do. FranServe as an infrastructure, they helped us hit that $2 million mark. Alesia was great in pushing us to achieve that success. And now, with the new year approaching, we’re setting new goals from day one.”
The Johnsons, who are passionate about helping others achieve financial stability and security, encourage other consultants to reach for the next level and trust in the advice of those in the FranServe community.
“We did not come from a franchise background, but we learned what we had to do to become successful,” Jack said. “And frankly, in this business you have to reset and do it again every single year. I think there’s a lot of power in setting goals but you have to do it early and you have to do it often. My message to those who are in this industry is whatever club you ended the year in, whether it be $200k, $500k or $1 million, make it your goal to reach the next level.”
